OET exam was alright. First was the listening. There's a part on fill in the blanks of a paragraph passage, it was rather fast, when im writing down he answer, i miss out listening. So for this must find out strategy to cope with it. wonder if just listen rmbr the all the answer in your mind then write down all the answer later works not. Gotta try it out. The topics are about chemo treatment and Leg injury management. As for the leg injury, they mentioned about wearing thongs. In my country, thongs are underwear, but here its slippers. So there was some slight confusion in the beginning.
Reading was fine, its about anti-doping and some research of slimming drugs stuff... cant really remember.
As for writing, mine is to write a letter to a nursing home whereby my patient will discharge back to the nursing home which he has been a resident there for 4 yrs. He came to hospital for total knee replacement. The thing about it is that the time seem too little for you to write, no time to think just write kind of situation. And in class, our assignment are much simpler. OET is like give u so much info till you really need to choose what you need to write.
Lastly, for speaking, mine was a disaster. I had an examiner who is new i think, because she doesnt know what she is doing and she is a lousy response in role play. In the beginning she checked my documents. then next thing she handed me the role play card and say that i am the doctor and she is the patient. I look at the card it says i am a nurse. So i ask her aint me the nurse and not doctor. Then she realise her mistake and say oh ya! The next thing is that she started on role playing!!! I have only read the 1st sentence of my role play card. I look at her and ask: am i suppose to be given some time to read the role play card? then she say oh yes! Kinda upset by the mistake, but i was affected a little and dont think i did well enough. The topics of the role play is about A&E dept, regarding a car accident, with spinal care injury. the 2nd part is about care of dying cancer patient that want to go home.
Overall experience is good. Gotta cross my fingers and hope for the best. I dunno how i will fair till the result is out in apr.
